Things I changed my mind about, in 2024

I will (not) wear pink

My linen summer suit from Suit Supply is a beautiful sand-colored, unstructured ensemble, perfect for more casual occasions. However, I found the shirts in my wardrobe to be a little bland. While a linen white shirt paired decently, amidst the brown and white ensemble, it seemed too understated. I had been searching for a turquoise linen shirt without much luck. I decided to experiment and tried on one of my girlfriend’s garments; she favors pink. Holding it in front of the mirror over my clothes, it surprisingly complemented the outfit well.

Subsequently, I ordered a light pink shirt from Suit Supply, utilizing my measurements already in the system, making the process quite straightforward.

Recently, I visited Suit Supply again for some trousers. I opted for taupe trousers and had them adjusted. When paired with my brown Chelseas and the pink shirt, the ensemble really came together. Consequently, I can confidently say that I now enjoy wearing pink.

Things I changed my mind about, in 2023

I will (not) wear Chelsea boots

One of the things I’ve tried often enough but never worked for me was Chelsea boots. Every time I tried them on with a pair of jeans, they just didn’t look right. That was until last year when I spotted a pair with a snake-leather pattern in the corner of a shoe store. I thought, why not give it another shot? My girlfriend frowned at me; I was wearing light brown jeans-type trousers at the moment. Surprisingly, they worked… for a change.

Not only did they work for a change, but I also began to really enjoy wearing them. These boots can be versatile, fitting into both formal and less formal attire. Obviously, the pair I got isn’t suitable for formal events, but the style of boot itself can be. Moreover, the boots improved my posture, as I was once advised by a podiatrist to opt for firmer shoes that provide support. These boots ticked all the boxes – comfortable, classy, and supportive. They went from zero to hero in my book.
